Regional Campus Administration (RCA) and Campus Accelerated Program for Adults (CAPA)
Career Services (located on main campus in La Verne, CA) offers free, comprehensive services to all RCA and CAPA students and alumni for life. The following is a list of how we can assist you:
Career Counseling Appointments
Whether you are a career changer, attending college for the first time, or back in school to further your growth in a particular field, we are able to provide you with assistance to excel in the constantly changing professional world. Appointments are available in person on main campus only. Under special circumstances, a counselor may be able to meet with you after 5 p.m. (Monday-Thursday) or via phone consultation. Please call us at 909-593-3511 x4054 for more details.
Resume/Cover Letter Assistance and Review
If you are unable to travel to campus, career counselors can review your resume and cover letter via email and by phone consultation. You may send your resume as a Word document attachment to careerservices@laverne.edu or fax it to (909) 392-2785. Once you complete and return the Student/Alumni Intake Forms, a career counselor will make any necessary changes or comments and send the documents back to you.
Mock Interviewing
A mock interview is a practice interview in which the career counselor asks you general questions and provides feedback on your interview skills. If you cannot travel to campus, you may schedule a mock interview with a career counselor via phone.
Career Self-Assessments
Self-assessments are helpful in exploring natural areas of talent and interest and can help guide you in a career search. We currently offer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory (or Self-Directed Search), and Life Values Inventory (see the Self-Assessments page for more information). Contact Career Services to make a phone or in-person appointment to choose the most appropriate assessments for you and to review your results.
Job Postings
We regularly receive postings for positions available in a variety of fields for both new and seasoned professionals. See the Job-Listings page to view these postings on LeoJobs, as well as links to other helpful career websites.
Etiquette Dinner and Virtual Job and Internship Fair
Each year, Career Services holds a variety of workshops and events on main campus to help students and alumni practice their professional skills and network with potential employers. These events are open to all CAPA and RCA students. In particular, we host an online Virtual Job and Internship Fair geared especially to the needs of students who are full-time professionals and located at our regional campuses. Check out our Events Calendar page for more details about the events scheduled for the 2009-2010 academic year.
