Former LV student is remembered

Former La Verne student Wayne Vaughn, Jr., music producer and club manager, died on Feb. 24 in Hollywood, Calif., from one gunshot wound to the chest. He was 27.

Vaughn was a member of the University’s football team and involved with theatre.

He participated in and produced several school plays and was heavily involved in the the radio and television broadcast programs.

Vaughn had three classes left in order to graduate with a double major in communications and theatre arts.

He last attended ULV in Spring 2002. Vaughn also attended classes and played football at Glendale Junior College for two years before La Verne. He graduated from Glendale e High School in 1994.

“He was the guy that everybody loved,” said Jay Register his friend and current ULV student. “He was always happy and smiling.”

His passions were his music and his friends. “He was loved by all of his friends,” Register said. “His friends were his family.”

Vaughn is survived by his parents, Wayne Lee Vaughn Sr. and Christine Jordan, grandmother, four sisters and three brothers.

Services were held yesterday at Forest Lawn in Glendale.

“Every time he would walk in the door, he would make people smile,” said friend Kato Franklin.
