University of La Verne junior Joe Skovron shot 73 in the first round
of the SCIAC Golf Championships Wednesday. Skovron made an eagle on the
par five 14th at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills on his way to
a third-place finish.
The golfers parlay their second place conference finish into a national
playoff berth.
Representatives from the men's tennis team lose their opening matches
at the Ojai tournament.
