The Associated Students Federation (ASF) Forum convened last Wednesday
in the West Dining Room, discussing committee plans and upcoming elections.
Standing Committees
President Dan Lougheed and adviser Don Morel expressed concern that
many standing committees had not yet met. For that reason, committees met
immediately after the meeting to develop activities for the fall semester.
Currently, ASF plans to sponsor "Cosmic Bowling," which will
be an "Ugly T-Shirt Bowl-a-Thon" on Sunday Oct. 12 from 9 p.m.
to midnight. There will be 26 lanes available and there will be black lights
and a laser show at the bowling alley.
The Forum agreed to allocate money toward the C.H.A.M.P. program, which
allows elementary school children to come to the University to learn more
about college. ASF referred the program to their philanthropy committee
and allocated $220 from their contingency fund.
Elections
It was announced that elections for freshman and transfer representatives
would take place Thursday and continue today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Candidates
were to give speeches in Davenport Dining Hall on Thursday. The Financial
Review Board is still in search for a freshman member at large.
Bylaw Changes
Bylaw changes regarding the decision-making power of the Financial Review
Board (FRB) were rewritten, but according to the ASF constitution, changes
must be in writing at least one week before being voted on. Forum members
will vote on the bylaw changes next week.
