In a slide presentation on Tuesday in La Fetra Auditorium, award-winning photographer Mary Ann Smothers-Bruni portrayed through her words and photographs the lives of men, women and children in the war-torn and poverty-stricken area of the Middle East known as Kurdistan. With a population of more than 17 million, the self-proclaimed area is primarily desert and lends little to agricultural sustenance.
