Ingrid Baartman Carruth joined the University of La Verne in 1988. She has held a variety of administrative roles at the university including academic advisement of students in the undergraduate Teacher Preparation Program as well as the coordination of the Liberal Studies Program at various campus locations. In 2007, Ingrid became a faculty member in the Teacher Education Program where she currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Education and Assistant Program Chair. Her responsibilities include overseeing the delivery of the Teacher Credential program at five regional campus locations: Bakersfield, Central Coast, Newhall, Ventura, and Victorville. Ingrid’s research focus has been in the area of mentoring and leadership development. She is a mentor in the First Generation Student Success Program. In addition, she is passionate about diversity issues in higher education and in the K-12 setting. Ingrid enjoys teaching adult reentry students at the various ULV regional sites. She teaches Diversity, Interaction, and the Learning Progress (EDUC 460), one of the first courses teacher candidates take in their curriculum. Ingrid was born and raised in Brazil and enjoys sharing her cultural knowledge, background, and experiences with her students.
