How do I change status--From H to F-1?

Why would you wish to change from H to F-1?

If you hold an H visa, you have been admitted to a La Verne program, and you wish to study full time, you should consider changing status. If you are on an F visa you will qualify for the benefits that are accorded to holders of that visa. This includes Optional Practical Training as well as work on campus.

Check List For Changing Status from H to F-1

On a separate sheet of paper, answer the following questions and be prepared to discuss them with the international student advisor. At the top of the page write: "Questions and Answers Regarding My Request for a Change of Status." At the bottom of the page print your name, sign your name and write the date. Please send this to the International Advisor, by email as an attachment before the interview. Remember that you must be admitted to the university to qualify to apply for a change of status to F-1.

  1. Why you did not enter the U.S. in the F-1 status you now seek?
  2. Have you been engaging in the activities for which you were admitted to the United States by the Immigration and Naturalization Services? Explain:
